Welcome to Chase'n A Dream Rabbitry
We are located in Hanover, Indiana overlooking the Ohio River owned and operated by the Crafton Family. We currently raise Havanas and Holland Lops. Please view our For Sale link if you are interested in purchasing any of our livestock.
History
Chase'n A Dream started in 1992 when I, Chase Crafton, received my first rabbit. The rabbit was purchased in Correct, IN from a registered Holland Lop breeder. Although the quality of the rabbit lacked, I enjoyed showing the Holland Lop rabbit in our local 4-H fair. Three years later at age 11 I purchased two black Havanas from L.D. Humbarger, in Markle, IN. I had noticed the breed at other county fairs and loved the rabbits' fur and docile personality. I immediately joined the ARBA and began seriously showing rabbits at the 1995 ARBA Convention. For a few years after I showed every month or so and never did that great. However, after a rigorous breeding schedule I arrived at the 1999 ARBA convention in Louisville, KY with a notable showcase of Havanas. My chocolate Senior Buck won Best of Breed that year, which very was very exciting having always done so poorly showing rabbits in 4-H and local ARBA shows. The win even landed me in the Domestic Rabbit magazine as a Best of Breed winner in Heinhold's main advertisement. I continued with this success in the youth division taking Best of Breed at the next two conventions, Columbus, Ohio 2000 and San Diego 2001. I officially stopped showing rabbits myself in 2003 when I went to school at Rose-Hulman Institute of technology.
The Future
My Mother and Father, Dean and Denise Crafton now have taken full responsibility of Chase'n A Dream Rabbitry. They frequently travel to shows and are active in the Holland Lop club. Through their breeding habits the quality of my stock has been increasing linearly. We have even built a barn to house the rabbits. Although if you look at the pictures the barn is reallly like a house. The building houses rabbits as well as contains other rooms for business, recreation, and storage.
